The Eastern Dental story begins in 1962, the year after Melvin Feiler left the U.S. Air Force, where he was stationed in Japan as the Captain of the Dental Division. He returned to his home state of New Jersey and began his first practice, a three-chair office on St. Georges Ave. in Woodbridge. It was founded with a strong desire to offer high quality dentistry at reasonable fees and a primary goal of superlative customer service.
That first office expanded to a 9-seat practice in 1968, and is still part of Eastern Dental today, although it moved further up St. Georges Ave. in 1984. Most of the dentists that worked there are running other Eastern Dental offices now, including Dr. Slomovitz and Dr. Segall.
Eastern Dental has grown over the years. The original practice changed its name to Eastern Dental in 1978, when it opened its first new office, in Union. The Old Bridge office followed the next year, and the year after that, the Ewing office. Eastern Dental has continued to grow over the years, but has never lost sight of its role as a local family dental practice.
And when we say family, that’s exactly what we mean. A second generation of Eastern Dental dentists now cares for a third generation of our patients! Dr. Slomovitz’ and Dr. Segall’s sons both work in the practice, and Dr. Feiler’s son, Aaron, runs the practice as the Executive Director. Carol Ann, Dr. Melvin Feiler’s wife, still works in the practice to this day.
The Dental Directors of the practices have been dedicated to the Eastern Dental mission for over 30 years. Together they form one of the most experienced dental teams working for a family-owned dental practice group in the nation.
